THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUBLISHING THIS!

I must say I was really kind of shocked when I got my TO two days ago and learned how limited the current firmware is in many ways! Now with advance mode, at least performance modes aren't hardwired to layers anymore. Finally I can have several layers in bounce mode at a time! (I love my bounce mode)

Now why they would hide such an essential in an undocumented easter egg kind of thing I have no idea!

Still, I think firmware 1.0 leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe I'll start a feature request thread...

I must echo other users' sentiments, and say thank you for posting this info!

I just got my tenori-on today and features like advance mode make me appreciate it much more!

I'm really hoping that the Firmware will be updated to fix things like the Lights for a Layer still displaying even though the Layer Volume is set to 0.

Hopefully someday there will also be a way to control the brightness of each light so you can actually see the visual mix of the audio and not just the notes played. There probably isn't voltage contol for each light besides on and off but I'm hoping!

As far as I can tell from test mode, there are only three brightness settings currently. I would think that more could be possible though.

I'm pretty sure that different brightnesses is achieved without voltage change.

I think that the TO repeatedy lighten on and off LEDs very fast to simulate a lower brightness.

Example :
Full brightness = LED always on
Mid brightness = LED on and off 100x/sec
Low brightness = LED on and off 50x/sec

In test mode, you can easily compare the different brightnesses, and you'll find that M and L are very fatiguing to the eyes because of this trick.

Dear Daren,

I viewed your video on YouTube a while back when I was deciding whether or not I ought to purchase an Elektribe. You did a great job on that piece. I am listening to it as I type this message; well done!

What are your opinions on the Elektribe? Would you recommend that I buy one at one point? Lastly, what do you believe are its inherent flaws?

Cheers,

From Miami,

A fellow Tenorion.

@spitfire, thanks! The EMX is a great machine IMHO, there are a few things I find midly annoying about it but overall I would say it is a very under rated instrument, although the synthesis seems quite simple you can actually get some really nice sounds from it, I'd never part with mine, and for what you can pick them up for they are a bargain.

@Fender207, glad to be of help, I like 16 score modes myself :)

I fund my best combo: 6 score, 1 random, 5 draw, 3 bounce, and a pushy-flushy :P

Daren,

Cool, thanks for the tip. I was debating on whether or not I should buy one.

For now, I decided that I would use the last 2 inputs on my second sound card for a synth I am building...

The MIDIbox SID V2. Check this thing out at http://www.ucapps.de if you have not heard of it already. It will add an extra "flavor" to my music. Although QuadraSID does a good job of emulating the classic Commodore SID chips, I appreciate the opportunity to build my own synth.

Cheers,

Spitfire

Is it right that you have to change the layers to you preference in advancemode everytime you startup the tenori?
So its not possible to save your preference?
